Daily Standard Frank Lemon, many years ago in the grocery business in Ionia, but who has been west for 20 or 25 years, going as far as Alaska, and who returned to Easton a few months ago, with consumption fastened upon him, died last night. His age was about 69 years, and he leaves a wife who is seriously ill and not expected to recover. He leaves one son, who is a lumberman in Arkansas. A brother resides in Kansas. His sister is the wife of Wm. J. Conner of Easton. Funeral at the home in Easton on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Saranac.

Daily Standard Mrs. Anna Curtis Conner, daughter of Jay Curtis and wife of Charles Conner, died very suddenly of heart failure on Thursday, March 31. She leaves two children one [Anna F.] about three weeks old, and one [Leona L.] about two years old. The funeral took place at the Easton M. E. Church on Sunday, and was attended by a very large number of people, deceased having been widely known and very highly esteemed. The services were conducted by Rev. He was born in Easton township, the son of the late Mr and Mrs William Conner of Easton. Mr and Mrs Conner were married September 26, 1903 [sic, 1902] in Pontiac. Conner had been employed at the Ypsilanti-Reed for 20 years. Survivors are his widow, Mrs Lottie Edith Conner, seven children, Frank Conner, Mrs Reva Meno, Mrs Beulah Moore, Mrs Eunice Frisbie, Miss Crystal [sic, Chrystal] Conner of Ionia, Raymond Conner of Belding, Mrs Marie Woody of Traver, Calif., 11 grandchildren and two brothers, George Conner of Saranac and Ed Conner of Ionia. He was born in Easton township, April 20, 1871, and had lived in Ionia the past 20 years. He was employed at the Ypsilanti Reed factory until ill health made it necessary for him to retire. He is survived by his widow, two sons and five daughters, Frank of Ionia, Raymond of Belding, Mrs. Beulah Moore, Mrs. Reva Meno, Miss Crystal [sic, Chrystal] Conner, Mrs. Eunice Frisbie, Ionia, and Mrs. Marie Woody of California. Funeral service was held at two o'clock, Monday afternoon, from Stone Funeral Home. Burial was in Easton cemetery. Bearers were Alva Brown, Burr Stowell, Miles Sharp and George Taylor, all boyhood friends in Easton.

Sentinel-Standard GORDON CONNER Gordon Conner, 63, Saranac business man, died suddenly Sunday of a heart ailment. He was born in Easton township, July 22, 1874, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Conner, pioneers of that township. May 10, 1900 he was married to Miss Mabel Foulks of Easton township and went to Saranac where they lived all their married life. He was a member of the IOOF, the Rebekahs, and the Boston lodge, No. 146, F and AM, and of the business men's association in Saranac. He also held several village and lodge offices. Members of the IOOF and the Masons will attend the funeral services in a body which will be held Tuesday afternoon, March 29 at the Saranac Congregational church at 2 o'clock. County News HOLD RITES FOR SARANAC MAN TUESDAY Gordon Conner, 63, Succombs After Lingering Illness; Pioneer Here SARANAC -- Funeral services for Gordon Conner, Ionia county resident for nearly 64 years, were held Tuesday from the Saranac Congregation church with the Rev. John Lehring officiating. He died Saturday, following several months of illness. Born in Easton Township, July 22, 1874, the son of William and Temperance Conner, he had been a resident of Saranac nearly all his life. He married Miss Mable Foulks, May 10, 1900, who survives him, and for the past 25 years he has operated a lunch room and billiard establishment on E. Main street, Saranac. He was a member of the I. O. O. F., the Rebekahs, Boston lodge 146, F. and A. M., the Saranac Business Men's association, and a former member of the village board. Besides his wife, he is survived by Ed and Cassius Conner of Ionia, and Ferry Conner of Greenville, brothers. Burial was in the Saranac cemetery.

Sentinel-Standard GEORGE EUGENE CONNER Funeral services for George Eugene Conner, 72, of Saranac, who died Monday at 4:30 a.m. at Ionia Community hospital, will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Morris funeral home in Saranac. Rev. E. E. Humphrey will officiate and interment will be at the Saranac cemetery.* Taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon, Mr. Conner had been ill for several days. Born November 11, 1869, in Easton township the son of Mr and Mrs William J. conner, he was the last of nine sons. He moved to Saranac about 25 years ago after he retired from farming. County News GEORGE EUGENE CONNER George Eugene Conner, 72, died Monday morning, March 9, in Ionia hospital where he was taken Sunday afternoon. He had been ill but three days. Mr. Conner had lived in Saranac many years. The past six or seven years he was sexton of Saranac cemetery and his work was always conscientiously done and much of the beauty of this little park was due to his efforts. George E. Conner was born to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Conner in Easton township, November 17, 1869, and always lived in Easton and Saranac. He is the last of nine sons and leaves only his widow, May, to mourn his passing. Funeral services are to be held this Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at the Morris Funeral home and burial will be in Easton cemetery.

CONNER submitted by Andrew MacLaney Surname: Conner, Scott The Greenville Daily News DEATH CLAIMS FERRY CONNOR [sic] Local Resident Drops Dead Wednesday At Home on West Williams Street Ferry Connor [sic], age 70, passed away very suddenly Wednesday morning at 5:30 at his home on west Williams street, following a heart attack. Mr. Connor [sic] had lived in this city for the past three years, coming here from Ionia county where he was born and had spent most of his life. He was a farmer. He was born in Ionia county on May 29, 1868. In January 1904 [sic, 1906] he married Miss Flora Scott, who survives him. He leaves three daughters, Mrs. Flora Raymor, at whose home he died, Miss Hazel Connor [sic], also of this city, and Mrs. Ethel Moore of Ionia; one son, Howard L. of Muskegon; three brothers, Edward J. and Cassius M. of Ionia and George of Saranac; and ten grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at the residence on west William street at 2 o'clock with Rev. Paul Tucker officiating. Sentinel-Standard FERRY CONNER Funeral services for Ferry Conner, 70, will be held from the home of his daughter, Mrs Flora E. Raymor of Greenville, Saturday afternoon, February 18, at 2 o'clock with interment at Easton cemetery. The Rev. Tucker will officiate. Mr. Conner died at the Raymor home, 118 Williams street, Wednesday morning from a sudden attack of asthma. He was born May 29, 1868 in Easton township and had been a lifelong resident of Ionia county. Surviving are the wife, Millie F.; a son, Howard L. of Muskegon Heights; three daughters, Mrs Raymor of Greenville, Mrs Ethel T. Moore of Ionia and Hazel Mae, at home; three brothers, Edward J. Conner and Cassius M. Conner of Ionia and George Conner of Saranac and ten grandchildren.

Mr. Conner was one of nine boys born to Mr. and Mrs. William Conner, pioneers of Easton township. He had always made his home in Easton. Surviving besides the widow are five daughters, Mrs. Leona Humphrey, of Ionia; Mrs. Anna Williams, of Northville; Mrs. Josephine Bensted,of Lansing; Mrs. Vada Hawley, at home, and Mrs. Ione Edwards, Saranac; several grandchildren; five brothers, George and Gordon, of Saranac; Ferry, Cassius and Edward Conner, of Ionia. Mr. Conner spent his life in Easton township. He leaves his widow and five daughters, Mrs. Leona Humphrey of Ionia; Mrs. Anna Williams of Northville, Mich.; Mrs. Josephine Bensted, of Lansing; Vada Hawley at home and Mrs. Ione Edwards of Saranac. Sentinel-Standard SARANAC Harvey J. Conner, aged 68 years, died at his home in Grand Rapids Friday. He was a former well-known resident of this place, having owned and operated a meat market. He leaves a widow, three daughters, Mrs. Frank Cain [sic, Cave], of Middleville, Grace and Harriett, both patients [?] at the Sunshine hospital in Grand Rapids, two sons, Lynn at home, and Elmer, of Lapeer, and three [sic] brothers, Gordon and George, of Saranac, Charlie, of Easton, Ferry and Ed, of Ionia. Sentinel-Standard EDWARD J. CONNER Edward J. Conner, 80, of Easton township died Friday and funeral services will be attended Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Stone funeral home on East Washington street. He leaves one daughter, Mrs Phebe Scott of Easton, and one son, Henry of Keene, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His wife died in 1924 as the result of an automobile accident. Mr. Conner was born in Easton township the son of Mr and Mrs William Conner, and was one of nine children, all of whom lived to see their parents observe their golden wedding anniversary. He was married to Mary Reid and they lived in Easton, in Orleans and later in Ionia city on State street.
Virgil G. CONNER submitted by Andrew MacLaney Surname: Conner The Grand Rapids Evening Press MICHIGAN DEATHS. Virgil G. Conner, an old and esteemed residence [sic] of Easton, is dead. Mr. Conner was in his sixty-first year and was born and raised in the township in which he died. He was a veteran of the Civil war, serving in the Twenty-first Michigan infantry. He owned and operated one of the finest farms in this section. He was a Republican and prominent as a poltician.

He was born in a log house west of the Reformatory grounds here.* He was the father of nine boys, two of whom, Cassius and Harvey J., are residents of this city. The funeral services were held on Sunday. *Other sources indicate he was born in Orange County, New York.

Daily Sentinel AN EASTON PIONEER GONE William J. Conner Died at His Home Thursday Night. William J. Conner died at his home in Easton at 9 o'clock Thursday evening after an illness of about four years. He was 85 years of age and a pioneer of Easton, coming to that township in an early day and settling on the farm where he resided at the time of his death. For the past 20 years he has been totally blind, enduring his affliction with patience and fortitude. About six years ago his wife died. He was the father of nine sons, all of whom survive him, Jerry, Edward, Ferry, George, Gordon, Frank, Cassius, Charles and Harry [sic, Harvey]. The funeral will be held from the residence on Sunday.

Daily Standard Mrs. Wm. J. Conner of Easton died of heart trouble Thursday morning, after two weeks illness. Her maiden name was Temperance Lemon. She was born in Oakland county in 1832, and has been a resident of Ionia county over 50 years. Mr. and Mrs. Conner celebrated their golden wedding anniversary about a year ago. She is survived by her husband and nine sons--Edwin [sic, Edward], Frank, Jerry, Harvey, Charles, George, Ferry, Gordon and Cash [Cassius]. Six of these are residents of Easton: Jerry's home is in Keene, and Harvey and Gordon live in Saranac. Mrs. Conner was one of the genuinely good women, faithful woman, wife and mother, and real neighbor, of the good old pioneer type. Funeral on Sunday at 10 a.m., at the home. Interment, Easton cemetery.

Daily Sentinel MRS. W. J. CONNER. Mary Temperance Lemon was born September 13, 1832, in Oakland county, Michigan, came to Ionia county with her parents when ten years of age, was married to William J. Conner March 3, 1857 [sic].* Died at the home in Easton, January 17, 1907, aged 74 years, 4 months, 4 days. Mrs. Conner not only cared for her own large family but 15 years ago took to her home two granddaughters, Leona and Anna Conner, who were left motherless at that time and has since cared for them as her very own. Her life was one of unselfishness, always willing to sacrifice herself for the comfort of others. She leaves to mourn her loss, husband and nine sons, eighteen grandchildren and one brother, George Lemon, of Kansas, also a host of friends. Her funeral was held at her home, Monday, January 21, 1907, at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. A. B. Johnson, of Saranac, interment in Easton cemetery. Daily Standard Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Connor [sic] of Easton were given a surprise visitation on Saturday last, by about 75 neighbors and friends, the occasion being a celebration of their golden wedding anniversary. The event was one of genuine pleasure to all present. Mr. and Mrs. Conner received a number of handsome presents, in recognition of the general esteem in which they are held. They have lived 50 years on the same farm, and have raised nine boys--all democrats--and certainly deserve well of the community.

Daily Sentinel EASTON Easton, March 5. -- (Special Cor.) -- The golden anniversary of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Conner was celebrated at their home in this township on Saturday last. About sixty-five of their relatives gathered at their home in honor of the event. Dinner was served, after which a programme of music and recitations was carried out. Many appropriate presents were left as reminders of the very pleasant occasion. Mr. Conner is a son of Jerry [sic]* Conner, who came to Ionia county from Oakland county more than a half-century ago. Mrs. Conner's maiden name was Temperance Lemon. Her father was a pioneer of the township of Easton. The aged couple have lived on the farm which is now their home during the entire of their married life. They are in good health. They have nine children living, all boys and grown to manhood. Daily Sentinel EASTON--Death of an Old Resident. Died, in Easton, July 3d, 1883, at the residence of her son, Wm. J. Conner, Caroline, relict of Jared Conner, aged 80 years. Jared Conner was one of the early pioneers of Ionia county, and was one of the first to engage in the shipping business on Grand river, between Grand Rapids and Lyons, and was one of the best known men on the river some forty years ago. He died at Grand Haven in the year 1852.

Daily Standard VIRGIL G. CONNER A Life Long Resident and Veteran of the Civil War Passes Away. While the pioneers of Ionia county were in annual session, of Wednesday, Virgil G. Conner, who was born in the county 61 years ago and had made his home here all his life, passed quietly away at his home in Easton. He was the son of Thos. Harrison Conner, and was born Nov. 10, 1842, his father coming to the county in 1835. Deceased had been in poor health for some time, but had only been confined to the house a few weeks. He served as a member of Co. K. 21st infantry, during the civil war, and was in all battles in which that regiment had part. He was wounded in the side at battle of Chicamauga, but soon returned to duty, and made the march to the sea with Sherman. He was faithful as a soldier, aas he was to his conceptions of duty as a citizen and neighbor. He was active in politics and interested in most matters of public concern, and had the respect and confidence of a wide circle of friends. He leaves a wife, but no children. Funeral Friday at Easton church, at 2:30 p.m.
