RANDALL, Laura Mae (WHITE)
Laura Mae Randall, 78, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Monday, April 1, 2002 at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mount Pleasant.
Laura was born in Millbrook Township on July 31, 1923 to Robert and Martha Broley White.
She was raised in the Muir area and attended the Muir School. Laura married Mark Elmer Randall in Muir on June 28, 1939. Mark passed away on January 5, 1989.
She was a member of the Lincoln Ave. Baptist Church in Ionia, the Ionia Moms Club for several years, and Ionia Commission on Aging.
Laura was a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother. Besides taking care of her family, she loved to visit with her friends.
Laura is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law.
Doris (John) Rodgers of Farwell, Barbara (Ron) Claycomb, Dixie Ostrander, all of Ionia, Diane (Charles) Dalton of Crystal; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Steven Randall and special friend Beth of Ionia, Jack (Faye) Randall of Sears; two sisters, Francis Variks of Lansing, Bertha Bennett of Greenville; seventeen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Mark; one son, Harvey; her parents; four brothers, Jim, Chuck, Pirl, Sam; and one sister, Mary Smith.
Funeral services for Laura will be on Thursday, April 4, at 1 p.m. at the Pine Grove Church, on Pine Grove Road east of Stanton, with Reverend Charles D.
Dalton Sr. officiating.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.
Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery near Fenwick.

Belding - Donald E. Ratay, 65, of Orleans died Saturday, May 31, 1997 at his residence. He was born Jan. 15, 1932 in Munhall, Penn. to Edward C. and Margaret Baggley Ratay.
He was a supervisor of maintenance for 15 years with Whittar Steel in Detroit and was employed as a foreman for many years with J & L Steel Co. in Detroit. He was a member of Shiloh Community Church. He was married Sept. 6, 1952 in Munhall to Hilda Higham, and she survives with their children, Becky and Paul Knoerl of Rockford, Melissa and Steven Rose and Mark and Kathy Ratay of Berkley, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment will be in Orleans Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ionia Area Hospice.

Helen "Dykie" Reed, 77 of Lake Odessa passed away June 6, 1997. Surviving are four sons: Walter (Toni) Reed III of New Jersey, John V. (Heide) Reed of Lake Odessa, Thomas W. (Nancy) Reed of Battle Creek and Phillip (Teresa) Reed of Battle Creek; one daughter Virginia (Bob) Kruisenga of Lake Odessa; 13 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; one sister Virginia (Bill) Spaller of Colo.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas Reed of California, Mary (Ed) Davison of Grand Rapids, Paul (Shirley) Reed of Arizona and Robert (Pat) Reed of Holland; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held June 9 with burial in Lakeside Cemetery. Arrangements by Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa.
RENNELLS, Stephen A.
Stephen A. Rennells, aged 100, died Thursday, July 11, 2002 at his home on Banks Lake, Gowen, MI. He was born in Ionia on December 6, 1901 the son of Eugene A. and Mary T. Abbott Rennells. Steve married Florence E. Perro on August 24, 1922 in Cadillac, MI. He was employed by the City of Lansing for many years. He then worked for the Meijer Corporation in the Realty Dept. retiring in 1971. He served on the Oakfield Township Board as a supervisor and also as the assessor from 1973 to 1977. His civic activities also included being the charter president of the East Lansing Exchange Club, served as district governor for the Exchange Clubs, was a life member of the Blue Lodge F.&A.M. #105 of St. Johns, life member of the Scottish Rite Grand Valley Chapter, Grand Rapids, a member of the Oakfield Twp. Historical Society, a member of the Greenville First United Methodist Church. He and his wife were instrumental in the beginnings of the Methodist University Chapel at MSU and the Jaravis Acres Retirement Home in Diamondale and former members of First United Methodist Church of Lansing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Florence Rennells on November 26, 1987. Also his sons, Eugene in 1984 and Donald in 1996, his son-in-law, Ray Lorichon in 1990, and three brothers and five sisters. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Vivian Lorichon of Tecumseh, MI and Shirley Ann and Gaylord Britten of Mauldine, S. Carolina. Also surviving are his daughters-in-law, Joan Rennells of St. Johns and Joyce Rennells of Ithaca; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2002 at 2 p.m. from Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville with Rev. Dr. Harry R. Johnson of Greenville First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Marion, Michigan. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Greenville First United Methodist Church or Hospice.

Mr. Edward Repik, 79, of Ionia passed away Monday, May 3, 1999, at Spectrum Health, downtown campus, in Grand Rapids. He was born the son of John and Catherine Repik on Nov. 1, 1919, in Ionia.
He graduated from the SS. Peter and Paul Academy in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He married the former Donna Condon on Sept. 21, 1946. He worked for over 36 years at Gen Corp in Ionia. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ionia, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the VFW in Sheridan and a trustee of Easton Township for several years.
Surviving are: his wife, Donna; one son, Tom (Sue) Repik, of Lowell; five daughters, Karen (Butch) Perry, of Ionia, Marcia (Rick) Kilduff, of Stanton, Liane (Paul) Wood, of Lyons, Carol (John) Hummel of Ionia and Connie Hoppough of Ionia; 17 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, John (Joyce) Repik, of Ionia. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one grandson and one brother.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered 11 a.m. Friday from SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ionia, with Fr. Melvin Fox as presider. The organist will be Mary Cusack. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. tonight and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday with a Rosary Service at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Rich Street Chapel of Cook Funeral Home in Ionia.
Memorial contributions can be made to the SS. Peter and Paul Memorial Fund or the American Heart Association in care of Cook Funeral Home.
RHODES, Evelyn E. (THOMPSON)

Evelyn E. Rhodes, aged 95, of Clarksville, was called home to be with her Lord early Friday morning, April 12, 2002. Evelyn was born August 28, 1906 to Joseph and Lena Thompson, who were both ministers in the Wesleyan Methodist Church.
She was raised in the Rives Junction, MI area. Evelyn graduated from high school in Lansing, and continued her education at Business College in Lansing. She spent more than 25 years working for the Lansing Board of Education. Evelyn was married to John Henry “Jack” Rhoades in Lansing on September 28, 1929.
She and her husband moved to Clarksville in 1962. Evelyn loved music and had been involved for many years with the National Federation of Music Clubs, including serving as the national president. One of the biggest joys in her life was her involvement in the Wesleyan Church. She had played organ for many years and continued to teach Sunday school until she was over 90 years of age.
Evelyn is survived by her children; Jim (Dorothy) Rhoades of Clarksville and Ted (Verlene) Rhoades of Clarksville; nine grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa with Pastor Mark S. Lipscomb officiating.
Burial will be in Clarksville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the West Berlin Wesleyan Church Activity Center.

Gloria J. Riley, 69, of Muir, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at her vacation home in Sebring, Fla. She was born July 17, 1932 in Greenville, to James and Gertrude (Barr) Hoffman. She married Leonard T. Riley on Sept. 1, 1995 in St. Johns. She worked for Clinton Memorial Hospital in the accounting office for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in St. John’s.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard T. Riley, of Muir; daughters Nancy (Mark) Jacobs of Chelsea, Connie (Charles) Drouln of Wellington, Fla.; sons, Ed (Nancy) Jorae of New York City, N.Y., Mike Jorae of Belleville; six grandchildren; brothers, Jim (Gloria) Hoffman, of Deckerville, Dick (Joyce) Hoffman, of Knoxville, Tenn., Jerry (Donna) Hoffman, of Marine City; sisters Virginia (Art) Holmden of Crystal River, Fla., and Grace Reed of Zepherhills, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Gertrude Hoffman.
Funeral services are 11 .m. Friday at the Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home in Carson City with Fr. William Reitz officiating. Visitation is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home in Carson City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shephard Hospice.

Greenville - Stuart H. Roberts, 71, Fenwick Road, Greenville, passed away early Saturday morning, April 26, 1997, at his home.
He was born April 29, 1925, in Ionia, the son of Floyd and Gladys Richards Roberts.
Mr. Roberts was a welder and machinist with Dolher-Jarvis and also owned and operated Roberts Excavating Service. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101 and attended Beth Haven Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Stuart Dale Roberts; three brothers, Richard Roberts, Ronald Roberts, Floyd Roberts; and one sister, Norma Brown.
On Oct. 19, 1951, at Greenville, he married the former Alice Bucholtz. She survives along with one daughter and son-in-law, Eunice and Bruce Shinabarger of Perrinton; two sons and daughters-in-law, George A. Roberts of Greenville, Paul and Pamela Roberts of Gowen, Karen Roberts of Fenwick; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Donna Jean and William Thiedman of Belding, Marie Bode, Marilyn and John Webster, all of Pensacola, Fla., Patricia and Gerald Bissell of Orleans; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Kenneth Roberts of Belding, Phillip and Wanda Roberts of Orleans; one brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Howard and Germaine Bucholtz of Greenville, Mary Roberts of Port Richey, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Brown-Teman Funeral Home, Greenville, with Pastors Kevin Crowell and Howard Bucholtz II officiating. Burial will be in Fairplains Cemetery

Carlton B. Rockey, 76, formerly of Orleans, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002 in Punta Gorda, Fla.
He was born on July 11, 1925 in Ionia, the son of Linus and Mary (Kavanaugh) Rockey. Carl served his country in the Navy during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the Punta Gorda Elks Lodge and a charter member of the Burnt Isles Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sybil, of 56 years; a brother, Donald (Doris) Rockey; eight nieces and nephews; a step-brother; and a step-sister.
Carl was preceded in death by his sister, Martha (Charles) Onstwedder; and brother Robert (Ilene) Rockey.
A Memorial Service held on Friday, March 1, 2002, at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services in Punta Gorda, Fla.

Ionia - Michael Rohal, 82, of Ionia died Friday evening, May 30, 1997, at St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing as a result of injuries from an automobile accident on April 15 in Eagle
He was born July 1, 1914, the son of William and Mary (Zobracsok) Rohal in Irondale, Ohio and came to Ionia with his family in 1922. He was a graduate of SS. Peter and Paul's Academy in 1933.
He worked as a self-employed autobody repairman in his own shop and later at Gibson Refrigeration in Greenville, retiring in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II, serving in the N. African invasion until 1945.
He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Ionia.
He is survived by three sisters, Anna Kohn of Lansing, Mary (Wyman) Howard of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Frances (Harold) Yeasly of Ionia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and William; and one sister, Helen Supp.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Hall as presider. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Rich St. Chapel of Cook Funeral Home. Pall bearers will be John Fears, Bill Fears, Russell Clark, Dale Jones, Ron Jones and Dave Sherman.

David C. Ross, Sr., 82, of Belding, passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, at his residence. He was born Sept. 14, 1916, in Greenville, Ohio, to Walter and Helen Mills Ross. He graduated from McConnelsville Ohio High School with the class of 1934. He retired in 1982 from Belding Tool and Machine Shop as a tool and die maker for more than 30 years. He was a member of West Milton Ohio F&AM Lodge and became a lifelong member of Belding F&AM Lodge #335. He was a member of Friends Church in Ludlow Falls, Ohio. He was a past member of the Michigan Bee Keepers Association and the National Rifle Association (NRA). He was married Oct. 10, 1936, in McConnelsville to Louise Crawford and she survives with their children, Helen and Richard Mahynski of Saranac, Joyce and Dr. G. Jay Rottman of Ada, and Russell and Betty, David Jr. and Wanda Ross, all of Belding. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, at Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens. Visitation is Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Ionia Area Hospice of the Ionia County Commission on Aging.
RULE, Guy V.
Lake Odessa - Guy V. Rule, 96, of Lansing, formerly of Lake Odessa, died Saturday morning at St. Lawrence Dimondale Medical Facility.
He was born June 16, 1886, in Michigan and was veteran of World War I. He was also employed at Oldsmobile in Lansing.
Surviving are his wife, Ivah.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at Clarksville Cemetery, the Revs. James Kinsey and Jerry Brenneman officiating.
Arrangements have been made by Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa.
