The Ypsi Doodler

Ypsilanti Reed Furniture Company
(Ionia Manufacturing Co.)
Ionia, Michigan

The Ypsilanti Reed Furniture Company was started in Ypsilanti in 1901 and moved to Ionia in 1904 so they could use Ionia Reformatory labor.  In addition to making furniture the company also made a number of products to help the war effort during World War I and II.  During the second World War the company manufactured truck cabs, parachute boxes, canvas tents, truck canopies, and tubular seating for vehicles.  After the war they built  wooden station wagon bodies for several years.
